Earned Income Credit Fact Sheet
The Earned Income Credit (EIC) is a Federal income-tax credit for
working families with lower incomes. The EIC, sometimes referred
to as the Earned Income Tax Credit, is available to married and
single parents or caregivers. Individuals and families without children
may also receive the EIC if their incomes are low enough.
Financial
Security in Later Life
Financial security is the ability to meet future needs while keeping
pace with day-to-day obligations. Preparing for retirement and potential
long-term care costs takes planning, saving, and debt control. This
initiative provides educational resources and programs to help people
improve personal finance behaviors leading to financial security
in later life. Missouri is implementing the following programs.

Get legal documents in order. Offered in cooperation with AARP Legal Services Network. -
Take the Road to Financial Security
Increase your knowledge of issues regarding later life financial security. Assess your preparedness and create a plan of action to meet your personal needs and goals.
High School
Financial Planning Program
This six-unit, interactive program uses contemporary materials to
teach the basics of personal finance to young people. It is
based on the philosophy that learning about money is as important
as earning it. It is available at no cost to all high schools throughout
the country. Offered in partnership with the U.S. Department of
Agriculture Cooperative State Research, Education, and Extensive
Service & participating Land-Grant University Cooperative Extension
Services (CES); and with the Credit Union National Association,
Inc., and America's Credit Union. (University of Missouri Extension

Money Action Plan
A curriculum to address the need for financial management education.
A train-the-trainer curriculum, targeting helping professionals
who are working with people having money problems. Includes seven
modules: introduction to money management, developing a spending
plan, record keeping, credit, communication about money, insurance
and consumer issues. Each module includes background information
as well as activities, handouts and worksheets for one-on-one or
group settings. Training sessions are available for helping professionals
($75 plus cost of training facility and refreshments. About 8 hours).
A CD of the curriculum is available for an additional charge. For

Specialist.

Saving for Tuition Program)
A Missouri Program to help families save for future educational
expenses.
Office
for Financial Success
A service of the MU Dept of Personal Financial Planning and College
of Human Environmental Sciences, OFS provides one-on-one counseling
sessions and seminars on topics ranging from financial problem areas
(i.e. credit, debt management, budgeting, etc.) to productive areas
of personal finance (i.e. investing, insurance, employee benefits,
etc.).

Wise Pockets
World
Wise Pockets World is an interactive website for children to learn
about earning income, spending, saving and credit. Characters such
as Wise Pockets the koala and Money Mouse will lead your kids through
short articles, quizzes and prizes (which can be printed off). Parents
and teachers can also find valuable resources to help their children
learn about these financial concepts. Your kids will have fun while
learning valuable financial lessons!
