This is true. In the year 2001,
42,086 marriages took place and 23,458 divorces occurred.
This does not mean that half of all marriages end in divorce
because the people getting married in a single year are not
likely to be the same as those getting divorced.
The marriage
rate has been declining over the past 10 years and the divorce
rate has also been declining slightly.
