I noticed an error involving an ATM
transaction on my bank statement last week. What do I need
to do to try and correct this?
Should you notice an error on electronic transfers, which
include ATM - Automatic Teller Machines, contact your bank
immediately. You must contact them within 60 days after the
receipt of the first statement on which the error appeared.
Put your request to correct the error in writing, include
your name and account number. Describe the error or the
transfer you are unsure about and explain as clearly as you
can why you need more information or why you believe there
is an error. Include the dollar amount of the error in
question. Most banks will credit your account for the amount
in question so you will have use of your money during the
time it takes to complete the investigation.
