How often should a pressure canner gauge be checked?
Dial gauges should be checked each year. They should be
checked more often if the lid is dropped or submerged in
water, the gauge glass is broken, or any parts are
rusty.
A weighted gauge does not get out of adjustment and does not need to be checked for accuracy. It does need to be kept clean. If you doubt the accuracy of a weighted gauge, write the manufacturer. The problem may be leakage between the lid and canner rather than accuracy of the gauge.
